Due to the storm slowing down and the expectation of continued bad weather through Thursday, we will likely not be resuming operations on Thursday as originally planned.  Therefore:

1. Once the weather allows on Thursday morning, Capt. Lorino would like one of the boats to head down to assess conditions of both stations and navigation aids.  Apprentices, please coordinate with me and Capt. Lorino later today and in the morning.

2. Our 8:45 AM employee conference call for Thursday morning is cancelled.

3. Our 10:30 AM employee conference call will now take place at 11:00 AM.

4. Out-of-town crew who were returning to work for Thursday should stay home until Friday morning  (most likely).

5. Remaining boats will head down as instructed by Capt. Lorino.   Roads in Plaquemines are expected to be flooded.  Mandatory evacuation of the west bank of Plaquemines now as road is expected to be impassable in about six hours as waters continue to rise.  Pilot boat may be the only way down on Friday.

6.  Please check email, http://www.mpsiservices.com, and texts for updates as everything is subject to change.  Times could be moved up or back, so please check frequently.

7. We will do a conference call Friday AM with the time announced on tomorrow's 11:00 AM conference call.  Please consult emails and other documentation for dial-in information.

Crewmembers scheduled to go off-duty on Thursday are being asked to work through Friday or Saturday to assist with re-opening activities, especially boat crews.

Crewmembers coming on duty Thursday will receive instructions on the conference call, but should expect to return to work on Friday morning.   Crewmembers who live out-of-town or on the North Shore are encouraged to meet at MPI Friday morning to receive passes, etc.  Time TBA.

Our Emergency Operations Center is open at the Maritime Pilots Institute (MPI) in Covington.

Please send all updates to contact information to:

ops@barpilot.com and craig.sanders@barpilot.com

Also, the dispatcher’s cell phone is on and operational:  504-270-7009

Be safe!!

Thanks for everything!

Hurricane Isaac made landfall at SWP last evening and then the eye moved towards Grand Isle.  The storm has essentially stalled or jogged to the north slightly.   Hopefully, it will move rapidly to the northwest so that our conditions improve.

We will have TWO (2) conference calls on Thursday morning as follows…

08:45 AM          This first call will be for us to share preliminary information and for me to get updated information on each

person's location and status.  I will then share this information with the pilots on their conference call.

10:30 AM          This second call is for me to convey instructions and return-to-work information based upon the pilots' call.

Please consult emails and other documentation for dial-in information.
